Hammacher Schlemer’s Virtual Keyboard for iPhone and iPad: A spookily clever device!

This Bluetooth Class II laser device named Hammacher Schlemer’s virtual keyboard, projects a cybernetic keyboard onto any flat and opaque surface, thus giving iPhone, iPad or Android users instant access to a keyboard. The virtual keyboard projected is 9 ¾ inches wide and 4 inches deep, with ¾ inch keys.

According to The Virtual Keyboard press release, an optical sensor recognizes keystrokes in three dimensions and is so sensitive to finger placement that it differs between a finger hovering over or pressing a “key”. An invisible infrared horizontal plane is also projected just millimeters above the surface, which detects ‘actual’ contact with the ‘key’.

for you who are a speed typist and worried that The Virtual Keyboard will not be able to keep up with your ultra-fast typing skills or produce the 100% accuracy you expect it to, then fear not, as this simulated keyboard can apparently keep up with typing speeds of up to 400 characters-per-minute, and, Hammacher Schlemmer’s general manager informs, that it transmits “100% accurate keystrokes to a smartphone or iPad.”

This three inch tall projector sits inconspicuously on a desk and, given its unobtrusive size, is easily transportable, whilst its rechargeable battery provides up to 2 ½ hours of typing after a 1 ½ hour charge.

Nikon D800: The World’s Highest Resolution Full-Frame DSLR Camera

Nikon announces a new DSLR camera is called the Nikon D800, it snaps photos at a whopping 36.3 megapixels, more than double the maximum resolution of the D4, which maxes out at 16.2MP. The D800 can capture those ultra-crisp photos. The D800 boasts a new image processor called the Expeed 3. With the full-frame sensor and processing engine.

Nikon D800 has all the advantages of a DSLR, able to swap out lenses easily, capture video (at 1080p, 30 frames per second) and an ISO that you can crank up to 6400 (natural) or 25600 (equivalent). With the optional MB-D12 battery pack, you can even enable a continuous-shooting mode that snaps six of those full 36MP images per second.

Then Nikon D800 has an extra sensor that helps ensure any people you shoot aren’t overexposed, even if they’re backlit. The 91,000-pixel RGB sensor automatically detects human faces in the frame, determines the right level of exposure, and allows for better autofocusing, flash control and white balance.
The D800 will be available in March for $3,000.
